Rest Your Creative Brain

By Team Anchor April 29, 2014
One reason that people have artist's block is that they do not respect the law of dormancy in nature.  Trees don't produce fruit all year long, constantly.  They have a point where they go dormant.  And when you are in a dormant period creatively, you can arrange your life to do the technical tasks that don't take creativity, you are essentially preparing for the spring when it will all blossom again.

Creative Support

The perception is that the role of marketing is such a well thought out and strategic process that it can fly alone in its success.

False.

I’ve been a professional marketer my entire working career and I can tell you with complete confidence that when clients are successful as a result of a campaign we’ve developed, I can only take partial credit for my involvement.  The truth is that it takes a strategic mind to pick and place marketing collateral, but the success of the execution is in the creative work.

Design = Communication

By Amber Caldwell March 25, 2014

Did you know that design plays an important part in everyday life and is often overlooked?

The fact is, we rely on it so much, it isn't even thought of as "graphic design".What in the world am I referring to? Transportation signage.

I just took a trip out of DFW and as I was going to check my baggage, go through security and find a trash can, I noticed how important the icons are around the airport to help direct passengers. This would be especially important if I were visiting from another country and wasn't able to understand the signage.

Why Being Bad Is Good

By Ricky Anderson II March 19, 2014

What is the worst movie you’ve ever seen? For me it was “Disaster Movie." I’ve never walked out of a movie before I saw that movie.

Instead of making a parody film commenting on the "Disaster Movie" genera, the movie was trying to fit as many pop culture references as they could into the movie; and the whole movie suffered because of it.

The reason I’m bringing this up is because I believe it's just as important to know what is bad as it is to know what is good.

If you are making bad video, you need to know that you're making bad video. If you are the kind of person who just thinks everything they make is gold, you are blinded by your own ego and you might end up making a "Disaster movie."

If you know what you're making is bad, that's good.
